Amica Whincop

Visual Artist
A local Gympie gal, Amica Whincop (Ba Vis Art/Ba Ed) is a visual artist, educator and inspirationalist. Her vibrant paintings can be found at Michael Reid Gallery and The Block Shop. Her work combines fifteen years of professional artistic experience, and teaching practice.

Amica encourages her students to overcome fear and embrace spontaneous expression into their creative process, honouring intuition and celebrating the present moment.  Her intention is that each participant leave a little more open to wild possibility and tuned into their true ‘artistic’ voice.

Don’t delay booking a seat in one of House of Artisan’s most popular classes.  Strictly limited to 10 participants.

Magical things happen when the colour palette is reduced.

In this workshop, we delve into monochromatic painting (use of one hue / colour) plus the addition of one other colour for visual contrast. You will be guided through the process of painting intuitively through the creation of an abstract work. Monochromatic painting was used by the masters to help define colour values and is a fundamental skill in art practice.

Workshop Elements:

  • Exploratory studies to loosen up and set creative starting points.

  • Demonstration of several fluid media techniques.

  • Intention setting & inspiration gathering: building a ground to begin from.

  • Creation of a resolved abstract work.

You will walk away with:

  • A collection of creative starts, and technical guides to use in your own practice.
  • A completed abstract piece on a 46 x 46cm square canvas,  authentic to your style and guided by your intuition.

Move past fears and self doubt and activate experimentation, playfulness and risk taking. Create something special, walk away feeling inspired and ready to make a space on your wall for your awesome creation.

No previous art experience necessary.

This class includes: all art supplies, including a 48 cm x 48 cm square canvas,  paper and light refreshments.

Suitable for: Ages 14+

Workshop Level:  Beginner
